Praying for One Another
As Christians, we are under no obligation to earn our righteousness with God through works, but it is wise to live a disciplined life. We are in a position of full acceptance because of the finished work of Christ, but we want to live lives that honor the sacrifice he made for us.
Many spiritual disciplines and p[practices are available for us to develop in our lives. Because we are disciples, we want to discipline ourselves to be tuned to his voice and ready to follow him when he calls.
One of the most dynamic and fruitful practices is Bible reading and study. The center for Bible engagement polled 40,000 people, these were some of their more significant findings. These statistics applied to people who read the Bible 3 or more times a week. Reading less often did not reflect such dramatic results.
People who read their Bibles 3 or more times a week are:
30% less likely to feel lonely or be angry
40% less likely to be edgy and bitter with people
57% less likely to abuse alcohol
60% less likely to feel spiritually stagnant
61% less likely to watch porn
200% more likely to share your faith
230% more likely to disciple others
In this series, I also discuss prayer, meditation, serving others, praying for others, and obedience. I pray this series helps you develop practices that establish your heart deeper in your identity in Christ and empower you to follow Jesus more closely.
