Do the Word

Apply the Wisdom that Unites Heaven and Earth

James 1:22 Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. 23 Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like someone who looks at his face in a mirror 24 and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like. 25 But whoever looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues in it—not forgetting what they have heard, but doing it—they will be blessed in what they do.

do the word and be blessed.jpg

James is obviously not talking about earning God’s blessings through works, he’s talking about walking in wisdom. To the legalistic this sounds like the focus is obedience, to the idealist this sounds like performance, but wisdom and maturity put God’s word into practice.

God’s blessing is not a wage to be earned, it’s a promise to be harvested. Wisdom is the practical application of knowledge. Our job is the sow the word in our hearts so that it can be led by the inner voice of God. So the wisdom and understanding will come together and by grace we’ll see the blessing of the Lord.
